News Word: Ethical Treatment of Human Embryos Act

The "Ethical Treatment of Human Embryos Act," which passed the state Senate last week, would outlaw the creation of human embryos for the purposes of stem cell research linked to treating Alzheimer’s disease and other degenerative neurological disorders.

Senator Smith ... Dr. Mengele? You should be embarrassed. As a state, we should be embarrassed that our governor is also spinning this statement into a fear-mongering tactic by implying that the bill is about creating embryos with the sole purpose of destroying them. I would ask anyone who really wants to learn about it to research this bill and understand what it is really about, which is fertility treatment and embryos. Then talk to a family who has gone through this.
