Mixed martial arts (MMA) has quickly become one of the most popular sports in the country, giving fans of boxing, wrestling and jujitsu the best of all worlds. Locally, Wild Bill's Fight Nights have become the place to see some of the best up-and-coming amateur fighters make names for themselves alongside more established professional grapplers.

This primal display of aggression returns this week with one of its most eclectic cards yet. Scheduled fights include a heavyweight bout between Jon Ivey and Kevin Jordan and a main event pitting Diego Saraiva against Arman Loktev. Also on the card is Georgia's first pro women's fight with Lizzy Miller and Tanya Reyes (both undefeated) doing battle.

World Extreme Cagefighting Lightweight Champion Jamie Varner will not only be on hand for the fights, but will also host a training seminar at Knuckle Up Fitness in Sandy Springs for those who want to get a little bit closer to the action.

Wild Bill's Fight Night. Fri., April 17, 8 p.m. (doors open at 7 p.m.). $25-$800. Wild Bill's, 2075 Market St., Duluth. 404-626-2126. www.undisputedproductions.com.

Summit Southern Nationals Anyone who's ever gunned it down a country road knows the thrill of seeing just how fast tthey can go. At this weekend's Summit Southern Nationals, you can see people who've made a career out of seeing who can make it to the end of a short stretch of asphalt the quickest. After three days of qualifying sessions, the top funny car, dragster and motorcycle drivers will compete in Sunday's final eliminations.

Thurs., April 16, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Fri., April 17, 7:30 a.m.-8 p.m.; Sat., April 18, 7:30 a.m.-7 p.m.; Sun., April 19, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. $8-$140. Atlanta Dragway, 500 E. Ridgeway Road, Commerce. 706-335-2301. www.atlantadragway.com.

Prepare For Pain! The Atlanta Rollergirls are almost to the halfway point of the 2009 season with this weekend's third double bout. The Dirty South Derby Girls all-star team takes on the Memphis Hustlin' Rollers in a battle for Southern supremacy. And inter-league dominance will be established as the Denim Demons and Toxic Shocks (both undefeated at home) do battle in the second bout.

Ferrari Challenge Those fortunate enough to own a Ferrari deserve to see what it's really made of from time to time. While racing on highways and side streets is obviously not legal or safe, the Ferrari Challenge is a chance for amateur racers to test their driving skills against other Ferrari owners on one of the most challenging tracks around. The two-day event also offers a festival-like atmosphere for spectators.

Sat., April 18-19. 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. $5-$30. Road Atlanta, 5300 Winder Highway, Braselton. 770-967-6143. www.roadatlanta.com.

Beatdown! Diehard wrestling fans looking for an indie card usually have to travel to suburban or rural areas. But this weekend's National Wrestling Federation event brings championship grappling to the inner city. Those scheduled to compete include NWF champion Mr. Xcitement, TNT, Ted the Dragon, Reno the Enforcer, Vic Violent, J. Fury and more.

Sun., April 19. 5 p.m. $5 (free for ages 6 and under). Rosel Fann Recreation Center, 365 Cleveland Ave. 678-851-8970. www.myspace.com/nwfwrestling2k.
