- Seemingly overnight, the swine flu that originated in Mexico spread from person to person, eventually reaching the U.S. ... meanwhile, CNN has a slew of answers to all things pig flu.
- And though the reported cases outside Mexico have been mild, the news of a possible global pandemic sent a jolt through the markets.
- Speaking of which:
- So much for jobs staying home: G.M. will shed 21,000 factory jobs by next year.
- Closer to home, apparently it's not worth it to try and lure the smartest Georgia high-schoolers to go to college in Georgia: The Governor's Scholarship Program was removed from this year's budget at the recommendation of Gov. Sonny Perdue.
- Walking the walk: U.S. plans informal meetings with Cuba.
- Got them waiting: Minnesota still lacks a senator as the Coleman-Franken race has yet to be settled.
- WTF: According to Time Magazine online, the world's most influential person is... the founder of 4chan.org??!?!
