And, no, it's not her husband's birth certificate.
Michelle Obama delivered a statement at the unveiling ceremony for a new bust of Sojourner Truth at the Capitol on Tuesday:
I hope that Sojourner Truth would be proud to see me, a descendant of slaves, serving as the first lady of the United States of America
Sojourner Truth, a prominent abolitionist and proto-Civil Rights/proto-feminist activist (groundbreaking, especially for the 1800s), was an acclaimed speaker in her own right, due in no small part to her speech "Ain't I a Woman."
But, alas, the Huffington Post headline reads: "Michelle Obama Honors Sojourner Truth, Wears a Striped Dress." Arrgh!! Do we all think it's so important what the First Lady wears? I mean, every day of her life?
In the LA Times, on the other hand, we find an article titled "L.A. Artist's 'Truth' to be unveiled," a nice background story on Artis Lane the sculptor who created the "Truth" statue and who, like our current president, is of mixed ancestry.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Stop being so racist and sexist, no-hyphens.
The correct hashtag is #BlkWomynLivesMatter♀
What other random things are this diverse group of activists concerned with? I'm going to…
Someone killed a homeless lady, wrapped her in a rug, and stuffed the body in…
Alexia Christian made her bed and now she's sleeping in it. End of story.
