The treasonous New York Times kills our Tuesday morning buzz and reports that President Barack Obama will nominate U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Sonia Sotomayor to replace Justice David Souter on the U.S. Supreme Court. Obama is scheduled to make a formal announcement at 10:15 a.m.
The Times could be wrong, can't it? If it is, the rumored short list for the position Obama's first pick since entering office is, uhm, kind of long. Possible nominees include Solicitor General Elena Kagan, Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, Appeals Court Judges Sonia Sotomayor and Diane Wood, Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano, and of course, retiring Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears.
