If you're in search of good laughs, hot wings, and cheap drinks you've only got a handful of options on a Wednesday night, and Uptown Comedy Corner should be at the top of your list. Amateur Night Wednesdays features amateur comedians trying out their skills in an Apollo-style set-up, where bad comedians get booed off the pocket-sized stage by a live crowd as the DJ provides witty music for their walks of shame. In between sets, host Lavar Walker, who's appeared on BET's "Comic View" and Jamie Foxx's Lafapalooza, hypes the crowd up for the next amateur act with his hilarious T.I. impression, dirty jokes, and on-the-spot improv.
This gritty Atlanta comedy venue features some of the city's best stand-up comedians. And just to make sure you laugh at other things besides the failed amateurs, performances from paid comedians fill the show's second half. The house can get surprisingly packed for a Wednesday night, mostly filled with throngs of locals and a handful of tourists, but every seat in the house is pretty much a good seat. And for all those night crawlers who are in need of some entertainment a little more salacious than a dirty joke, the comedy club conveniently brushes shoulders with Dancers Elite strip club. $10. Wednesdays, 7 p.m. Uptown Comedy Corner, 800 Marietta St. 404-881-0200. www.uptowncomedy.net.

There are a couple of other open mic nights in Atlanta, all of which fans of comedy should check out. The Punchline also runs a show on Wednesday nights, and that includes a contest where anyone can sign up to win a shot at $1000 to the final winning comedian.
Also check out Twisted Taco on Sundays. It's a semi open mic but a good place to try material if you're new.
I am a aspiring comedian, and I want to perform at The Uptown comedy Corner, my stage name is LeRoy Brown
