Small plane makes emergency landing on North Cobb street

Posted by Thomas Wheatley on Mon, Jun 8, 2009 at 4:37 PM

From the AJC:

No one was injured when the Sky Arrow 600 Sport landed on Nance Road about five miles from McCollum Field near Kennesaw, said Karl von Hagel, McCollum airport manager. After the landing, the pilot taxied the plane onto Loring Road. Traffic on U.S. 41 was not affected.

Von Hagel said the pilot of the single-engine plane noticed smoke in the cockpit and determined he couldn’t make it to the airport.

WSB-TV has photos of the landed plane. If survivors are looking for an appropriate facility to celebrate the landing, might we recommend nearby roller-skating rink Sparkles? (If you were lucky enough to not grow up in Cobb County, you might be unfamiliar with the bizarre wonderland that is Sparkles.)

The state Supreme Court strikes down an important traffic law, then within minutes so guy decides to drive his plane on our streets! I hate activist judges!
