Air Loaf: Presumption of guilt

Mara Shalhoup discusses this week’s cover story about Zach Higgins, a young man who was convicted of rape and sentenced to 35 years in prison

CL’s Chanté LaGon and Mara Shalhoup discuss this week’s cover story about Zach Higgins, a young man who was convicted of rape and sentenced to 35 years in prison even with testimony from four witnesses that the alleged victim had verbally admitted that the sexual encounter was consensual. Shalhoup explores the question of whether or not Higgins would have been convicted if a prior charge from his past had not been allowed into court under Georgia’s “bent of mind” rule.

Air Loaf is broadcast weekdays on 1690 WMLB-AM at approximately 8:10 a.m., 12:20 p.m. and 6:20 p.m.
