Rep. Paul Broun makes Georgia proud — again

Posted by Scott Henry on Mon, Jun 29, 2009 at 5:50 PM

The U.S. House narrowly passed the cap-and-trade bill late Friday, and it didn't take long for Georgia's own Congressman Paul Broun, R-Flat Earth, to be singled out as the nuttiest of the naysayers.

Why, you ask? Because of statements like this, make from the well:

"The idea of human-induced global climate change is one of the greatest hoaxes perpetrated out of the scientific community."

So, Nobel Prize-winning economist and NYT columnist Paul Krugman, what was your take on Broun's remarks?

I’d call this a crazy conspiracy theory, but doing so would actually be unfair to crazy conspiracy theorists. After all, to believe that global warming is a hoax you have to believe in a vast cabal consisting of thousands of scientists — a cabal so powerful that it has managed to create false records on everything from global temperatures to Arctic sea ice. Yet Mr. Broun’s declaration was met with applause.

Yep, that's our Dr. Paul. You're doin' a heckuva job, Brounie! Way to make the folks back home proud.
