On July 1, a bunch of new laws covering everything from Confederate Heritage History Month to boll weevil eradication went into effect in Georgia.
One of those laws allows MARTA riders to consume food and drinks at transit stations which means MARTA could sell them as well. The cash-strapped transit agency hopes the deal might add some much-needed revenue.
MARTA doesn't know it, but it's missing a gold mine. Here, free of charge, is one suggestion to make efficient use of space and maximize profits.

Maybe MARTA could change their advertising policies...
I wish Marta would just hire some competent urban planners and realize if Marta would go where people need to go, people would take it, no matter what it looks or smells like. Hat tip to Thomas for plugging away at them consistently!
That's the thing... MARTA has competent planners. It's the State Legislature that needs some competent urban planners.
Tessa, I don't think that's the issue plaguing MARTA. I'm very sure they WANT to go where the people want to go--that is their business, after all. However, they are mightily restricted by the complete lack of helpfulness by out state govn't. Their incredible apathy & shortsightedness (preferring roads over MARTA b/c businesses can be built along roads and that = $$$) really makes me think they hate this city. We cannot compete with the cities of the world without a better functioning mass transit system. Our air quality, collective health and over quality of life will continue to erode & decline w/o this. Business will not want to build in a city like that!
Just to be clear, it wasn't my intention to knock MARTA or its planners with this post. I just wanted to upload a wacky video.
