Woodruff Art Center receives $12 million grant

Arts education received a $12 million boost today from the Goizueta Foundation. An e-mailed press release announced today that the foundation would provide the funding to help build the Woodruff Arts Center arts education programs. From the press release:

The Woodruff Arts Center today announced that it has been awarded a $12 million grant from the Goizueta Foundation to expand the Art Center’s education programming for pre-K to 12th grade students throughout the state of Georgia. As Georgia focuses more resources on student competency in core curricula, the Woodruff Art Center — long recognized as an important advocate for and provider of arts education in the state — serves an ever more critical role in sparking children’s imagination and encouraging interdisciplinary learning.  The three-year grant from the Goizueta Foundation, which has individually supported the Art Center’s constituent institutions’ programs over the past 10 years, will allow the Art Center to develop new programs and to expand the current programs, which already serve schoolchildren in 76 counties.

The grant's details are laid out is this pdf version of the press release.
