News Oxendine attacks Obama on behalf of big donors

What possible interest could the Ox, a Georgia state elected official, have in whether Obama succeeds in passing national health-care reform?
Well, for starters, as a candidate for governor, he's got to make it through the merciless GOP primary, so any swipe at a Democratic president is a smart move. But, more importantly, as state insurance commissioner, he's got to look out for his base — which, is, of course, big insurance companies.
That's why, just a couple of hours ago, John Oxendine launched www.youcanstopobama.com, a new website intended to "let the voices of real Americans be heard in the political process." Here's the pitch:
With your help, we can stand up to President Obama and the power grabbing, free market destroying Congress. From centralized control of banking, automaking, and now healthcare, Obama's and Congress' plan for America is a prescription for disaster.
Prescription … heathcare, get it? Clever. Anyway, in order to "stop Obamacare," you need to sign an online petition. At that point — well, let's let the website explain:
On a weekly basis, John Oxendine will update the members of Congress on how many Americans from around the nation have signed the petition. John will hand deliver the signed petitions to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senator Harry Reid in Washington after Congress reconvenes.
I'm sure that none of the Georgians who submit their names, e-mail addresses and county of residence to this website will be deluged with Oxendine campaign material or hit up for donations. That would be cravenly taking advantage of the petitioners' naivete and that would be wrong.
So what are the Ox's motives? Well, this is a guy whose entire political career has been bankrolled by the insurance industry, which is desperately fighting the president's efforts with all the lobbying power it's got. Would it seem too cynical to suggest Oxendine is rendering his chief benefactors a small measure of payback?

A very pretty website that hopefully will work. The adoring, 'no questions asked, just do as your told', Obama followers will be in for a RUDE awakening if this thing passes. Free rides for EVERYONE, (just don't expect it to be in working condition). You get what you pay for, which is nothing... or something, at least big tax hikes, more job loss, and an ever slowing, eventually broken economy.
Exactly -- we can only hope it will work. Fuck healthcare that is competitive with the rest of the developed world, fuck freeloading poor people, fuck people who have lost their jobs due to illness (and therefore their healthcare), fuck anything whose sole motivation is not clean and pure profit, but most of all, fuck that Kenyan. After all, its not about trying to provide real solutions to REAL problems -- its about defeating those adoring Obama followers. Don't they know that raising taxes on the wealthiest 5% of Americans to pre-Bush levels is outright socialism? Don't they realize that proposing the slightest regulation on an economy that was driven into the ground not by a business cycle but by greed and lack of regulation is anti-American? Shut the hell up Obama adorers and do what the lobbyists that represent the REAL America paid you to do. KAISER PERMANENTE 4 LIFE.
Also, its a shit website. They mocked it up in photoshop and saved it as a jpg and put it online with a Twitter link on top. It ought to be in goddamn Flickr account somewhere rather pretending to a website, but I guess time is of the essence when you're shoveling shit.
Traveling to Washington D.C. to "hand deliver" updates must surely take at least a day. Since he's going to do it weekly, seems like a great opportunity for Georgia to save some money by reducing his pay 20%.
Having the government 'control or manage'one more facet of my life is just absurb. How's that Cash for Clunkers program going? If Congress thinks that this is program we should all support, then they should include themselves in it!
The Cash for Clunkers program has been wildly successful, to the degree that Congress has authorized an additional $2 billion to extend the program through Labor Day. It's a direct stimulus to one of the most ailing sectors of the economy, that only works if people take the offer, and way more than expected have done just that.

Hey brian you got a point those are real problems, but why is the solution to those problem not tackling them directly instead fucking over every person in the country. Why can we not help those who need it without destroying health care for everyone else?
