News Mayoral candidate Kyle Keyser meets fundraising goal

Anti-crime advocate Kyle Keyser, who announced his Atlanta mayoral bid on Sept. 2, sends word that he's met his $4,425 fundraising goal.
Since announcing his candidacy on Sept. 2, the 36-year-old video producer and Little Five Points resident asked friends and supporters via Facebook, Twitter and DailyKos to help raise money so he could pay the mandatory qualifying fee to run for office.
Keyser, who acknowledges he's outmatched when it comes to money and experience, will file his official papers at City Hall this afternoon.
"The change the next mayor will have to bring in the next four years is crucial," he told CL this morning. "I'm running to remind [my opponents] of that change. I believe Atlanta can change with the right leadership."
His opponents in the race, thus far, are Lisa Borders, Peter Brownlowe, Mary Norwood, Kasim Reed and Jesse Spikes. Qualifying ends today at 4:30 p.m.

Kyle has my support and the support of every ear I can bend in his favor. It's about time there was a candidate in this race I could get excited about. Please tell me there will be yard signs...

Reed and Borders have got to be smiling about Kyle's entry. His entry virtually guarantees a runoff.
Brian, donate to Kyle and you'll get a yard sign. Atlanta, don't let Norwood/Reed/Borders continue to run this city into the ground. Kyle is new;the three of you are experienced and incompetent.
Keyser's a great guy, and I think his group ATAC is doing a great job in bringing light to the issues of public safety surrounding our city. But if I were Reed or Borders, I'd be snickering at his entry into the race for another reason (besides the obvious runoff which would've happened whether he got in the race or not, IMHO) -- his race. Yes yes, I know, we're SO OVER race. But Mary Mary Quite Solitary can't run around calling herself the "Obama" candidate because she's the only White person in the race (which I don't think she was). Kyle can split the votes in Midtown and East Atlanta, so if I were Mary, I'd be concerned about his entry. Borders too, actually. Aside from this though, what is Keyser's platform outside of public safety? I would love to know, because Facebook groups alone won't make him mayor.
