Weekend Arts Agenda: A little of this, a little of that

This weekend's arts calendar is jam packed with a little something for everyone, whether you're into wearable art or are fascinated by DNA and all things genetic.

TONIGHT (Friday)

Beep Beep Gallery presents Pretty Awesome at Aurora Coffee L5P, a combo art auction/concert/fund aiser. In an effort to host more all ages shows (and keep up their rep as the 2009 Best of Atlanta Readers Pick for Best gallery spotlighting local artists) art from 25 local artists, including Lucha Rodriguez, Ann-Marie Manker and Shaun Thurston, will be auctioned off between 7 and 10 p.m. Afterward, for only $5, there'll be a concert featuring Carnivore, Recompas, El Fossil, Pleasure Cruise and Em! Lelavision brings The Accumulation of Change, a unique and interactive performance, to Eyedrum. Expect a hybrid art-science experience that blends Lelavision's kinetic musical sculptures, music and dance with the research of biomolecular chemistry professor Dr. David Lynn of Emory University. Audience members will participate in a twisted and spectacular game of genetics through the use of classroom clicker technology as they learn about the chemical origins of life and Evolution. $10-$15. 8 p.m. Eyedrum. 404-522-0655. www.eyedrum.org.

SATURDAY

Dan Cameron — the director of visual arts at the Contemporary Arts Center of New Orleans — will be a guest lecturer at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. Hear his picks for the most exciting artists and exhibitions in the months to come and ask him questions about his 2008 project Prospect. 1 New Orleans. $3-$5. 11 a.m. Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. 404-688-1970. thecontemporary.org.

After checking out the Cameron lecture you can stroll the Westside Art District's Art Walk. For the October edition of this monthly event Sarah Hinckley will discuss her current exhibition Color Logic the Emily Amy Gallery. At Kiang Gallery, internationally recognized surrealistic photographer Chi Peng will talk about his recent work. In addition, Saltworks presents LRLL RLRR, a drum performance by Harrison Haynes (of Les Savy Fav) and Moses Archuleta (of Deerhunter) that explores the production of music and the role of the drum in pop culture. 7 For All Mankind at Lenox is hosting Art+Fashion = 7 For All Mankind. Stop by the store to see artwork from local artists Ben Roosevelt and Stan Woodard. The event will also feature cocktails, snacks, and tunes while Ben Roosevelt paints shopping bags for customers onsite. Shoppers will also receive a 20 percent discount and a free basic hem on their purchases from the denim brand's fall collection. SUNDAY

Atlanta Pecha Kucha is an informal art forum in which artists have 6 minutes and 40 seconds to exhibit their work (20 slides at 20 seconds each). Hosted by Octane Coffee (Westside) this month's Open Letter(s) to the next mayor of Atlanta marks the event's 13th volume. Enjoy $3 beer and $5 wine specials provided by Octane while actively participating in conversation about the biggest issues the next mayor of Atlanta will face.
