News District 6's Liz Coyle: 'I'm ready for a runoff'

Last night, longtime community activist Liz Coyle was edged out of a Dec. 1 runoff against Alex Wan by darkhorse candidate Tad Christian in the Atlanta City Council District 6 race.
Or so we thought.
CL just spoke with Coyle. And the Atkins Park resident says she's ready for a runoff.
"Huh?" we asked.
Coyle said the election results reported for the six-candidate race didn't include three DeKalb County precincts that are considered part of the City of Atlanta. When you add those results, Coyle says, she leads Christian by 65 votes.
"So I'm ready for a runoff," she said. Work begins today on her Dec. 1 showdown with Wan.
We've reached out to the Christian campaign. We'll update when we hear word.

What lies ahead for the BeltLine? What are the “promises” of the BeltLine? Those will be big issues in the District 6 run off between Coyle and Wan. At the start of this election, Coyle was on the BeltLine Board and Wan was on the ADA Board. In their official BeltLine capacities they took public positions on many BeltLine deals and activities. What are their views on upcoming BeltLine issues and decisions? For instance, NPU E just voted “No” on the Subarea 6 BeltLine Master Plan. NPU F will take a position on that Plan next week, and probably will vote “No.” What are Coyle's and Wan's opinions on the Subarea 6 Plan and other BeltLine issues and questions? P.S. Along with the traditional rhetoric and platitudes, voters want to know details and specifics.
Many of us in District 6 would like to hear the answer to one specific question: “Do you support Atlanta Beltline Inc. (ABI) in their unyielding attempts to put 4 and 8-story development in areas originally promised as green space at Monroe & 10th?” Only one first round district 6 candidate came forth with a clear, unambiguous statement supporting the neighborhood over ABI. I would like to hear one of the remaining candidates commit to fighting the ABI on this issue. The ABI plans to reverse the land use from open space to 4 and 8 stories would have detrimental impacts on District 6 and Piedmont Park. With developer plans to aggregate 10 adjacent single family homes to be converted to commercial property, this is the single defining issue of the current election. Who will show the leadership and courage to take this challenge?
