Norwood calls quickie press conference

OK, so Mary Norwood’s folks just called a news conference for, um, about five minutes from now. I’m guessing most of the news vans are camped outside her HQ anyway.

Will she call for a recount? In the digital age of voting machines, I’m not even sure what a recount would mean. Without actual ballots, there’s really nothing to recount anymore, so this can’t turn into a Florida situation.

Last night, Kasim Reed delayed coming onstage to claim victory for at least 4o minutes after most local newscasts had already called the election. I’m told he was waiting for Fulton officials to give him the word that there were no more votes left to count.

Actually, I understand that there are some provisional ballots that haven’t been counted, but not enough of them to close the 600-700 vote gap between the candidates. Provisional ballots are never counted unless the vote difference is so small they could affect the outcome of the election.
