I took this at the most recent Perfect Attendance concert, a monthly showcase of beautiful, unique, and wildly talented female musical artists in Atlanta.  I was photographing them from the front row and at eye level.  Spit was flying, veins were popping.  At a point, I realized that with such close proximity and a direct flash, these weren't going to be "pretty" concert photographs.  Instead, I decided to fill the frame with every element of each performer I could and nothing else.  I think this photograph is a good example of what I was going for.  There's nothing in the background, nothing in the foreground.  I like the six or so instances of green in the image coupled with the words "give peace a chance" over a distorted image of a placid John Lennon. It's all very quiet, passive and peaceful, until your eyes focus on the center of the image and see her face and her mouth belting something so passionately that you look back at Lennon and wish he would have tried a little harder.

Check out more shots from this concert and a detailed blog about the Perfect Attendance experience.
