Morning Newsdome: PETA’s pie-in-the-face a terrorist attack? January 27 2010

A daily round-up of all that’s important from around the world

>> Ticketmaster and Live Nation have merged into the largest concert promoter, venue owner (over 135 venues around the world) and artist-management company known as Live Nation Entertainment Inc. Though the Department of Justice regulates the business, many critics fear the company can charge ticket prices as high as they want. Come on, greedy concert goers, think of the artists! Jay-Z needs to eat! (the Wall Street Journal)

>> Canadian Members of Parliament are calling the incident in which 37-year-old New Yorker and PETA member Emily McCoy hit Canadian Federal Fisheries Minister Gail Shea with a pie as a terrorist attack. Those Canadians will never understand how American democracy works. (Canada.com)

>> In more PETA-unfriendly news, a newspaper reported today that Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has a black goat slaughtered at his house nearly every day to ward off “black magic.” Those slaughtered goats won’t be able to ward off the big curry pies coming at his face. (Reuters)

>> And for the dog lovers out there: China has proposed a law set for legislation this spring to fine and jail people up to 15 days for for eating dog meat, a traditionally popular meat in the country. Dog-eaters can’t help it if Spike tastes even more delicious beaten to death so his muscles are more bloody. (Reuters)

>> And finally: The 60-nation conference on Afghanistan tomorrow in London, first seen as a political stunt, may actually mark the beginning of the end of the war. The meeting has unexpected support from top military commanders, but mainly everyone just wants to get the hell out. (Reuters)
