What is Oscar nominee The Secret of Kells?

Perhaps the biggest question to accompany the announcement of the 82nd Academy Award nominations is, "What the heck is The Secret of Kells?" which earned a Best Animated Feature nomination. According to its Wikipedia entry, it's "an Irish-Belgian-French animated feature film by Cartoon Saloon (who also created the television series Skunk Fu!)" which depicts a ninth-century boy with an artistic bent who ventures into a forest to complete the valuable Book of Kells. It must be pretty good to win the nomination over Hayao Miyazaki's Ponyo. It's scheduled to open in the United States in March, and the few people who've seen it apparently love it:
