Morning Newsdome: The McQueen is dead February 11 2010

A daily round-up of all that’s important from around the world

>> A Haitian judge decided today that 10 American missionaries should be released after they tried to take a busload of Haitian children out of the country. It’s not like these children had their parents’ consent ... oh wait, yes they did.  (USA Today)

>> The European Union said they are ready to help Greece’s finances and ensure stability in the country. Hmmm ... does the EU want to help our finances and stability? God knows we need it. (BBC News)

>> Probably not since the European Parliament rejected today American’s  continued controversial attempt to access European bank transfers in an effort to track global terrorist finance, a program that first begun under the Bush administration. New rule: Obama probably shouldn’t be pushing anything that began under the Bush administration. (the Washington Post)

>> An Arab ambassador to Dubai annulled his marriage after his bride revealed she was “cross-eyed and had facial hair” after removing the Islamic face-covering Niqab. He told the court that the bride’s mother tricked him by showing a picture of her sister. This would make a really great Hollywood movie, staring Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz with a mustache. (BBC News)

>> And finally: influential British fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead at his home today, presumably of suicide, at the age of 40. His innovative and controversial take on fashion and society will be missed. (the Daily Mail)
