>> Kathryn Bigelow beat out her ex-husband James Cameron for the Best Director award at last night’s Oscars, becoming the first woman in the Academy’s 82 years to win. Her low-grossing film “The Hurt Locker” also beat out Cameron’s epically expensive “Avatar” for Best Film. Their lawyers are battling over Oscar statuette custody at this moment. >> Democrats are apparently trying to add-on a controversial rewrite of the Higher Education Act to the health care reform bill. The measure would ban private companies from offering federally guaranteed student loans. The children are our future! (the Wall Street Journal)

>> Palestinian Islamic group Hamas has banned men in Gaza from working in women’s hair salons, saying offenders will be arrested and tried. Cause, girl, the Gaza Strip gossip in salons be something fierce! (Reuters)

>> Another earthquake strikes again, killing 51 people in at least six village in eastern Turkey. Nowhere is safe. (AP)

>> And finally: The latest clashes between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria’s Plateau region are seen as revenge for similar violence in January. Call me psychic but I have a feeling there will be a future clash over this revenge. (BBC)
