Spring into ‘Seasons’ with Atlanta Ballet

In a sneak peak of their upcoming concert, Atlanta Ballet invited patrons into a rehearsal at their midtown studio last week with acclaimed choreographer James Kudelka. Exhausted dancers snapped into exuberance as Kudelka took the floor. He retreated with a furrowed brow to observe, and then pounced like an enthusiastic coach: “More slimy! More personal.” The dancers rolled their shoulders against one another, pressed then draped, braided and slinked away.

Kudelka was working on the Autumn section of his celebrated piece “Four Seasons”, set to Vivaldi’s popular violin concerto. Atlanta Ballet (dancers and orchestra) will perform the work March 25-28 at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center. Also on the bill are “Celts” by Lila York (2006) and “rEVOLUTION”, created and performed by students from Kennesaw State University.
