Drivers pining for the bygone era of a parking enforcement-free Atlanta are in luck —  for about a month, anyway.

Yesterday, City Council unanimously approved an amended version of councilman Kwanza Hall's resolution [pdf] to impose a 30-day moratorium (original discussion had been of a 60-day moratorium) on PARKatlanta, suspending parking enforcement, parking meter enforcement and residential permit parking enforcement. It  also requires that the agency stop installing meters where they did not previously exist. Hall also submitted an  ordinance [pdf] to correspond with the resolution; it will go through the usual review process.

But, before you go parking your Hummer in front of that fire hydrant, keep in mind the Atlanta Police Department will still be writing tickets and towing.
