>> President Obama nominated Solicitor General Elena Kagan as his Supreme Court nominee. Kagan was the former Dean of Harvard Law School, she is progressive on gay rights, and she is a woman. Make a decision about her quick! (the Washington Post)

>> Attorney General Eric Holder said that the Pakistani Taliban was behind Faisal Shahzad's failed Times Square attack, though he was earlier reported as acting as a "lone wolf." Invade Pakistan time? (the New York Times)

>> The EU pledged a whopping rescue package of nearly one trillion dollars to "regain lost credibility with investors" since, you know, it's the investors that ultimately matter. Just look how well it worked here in the States! (the New York Times)

>> So that giant dome didn't work out to stop the gushing Gulf of Mexico oil leak, so the new plan is to stuffing the leak with trash--"shredded tired, golf balls"--in what they're calling a "junk shot." Sounds messy. (CNN)

>> And finally, in his commencement address at Hampton University (where the hell is that?) yesterday, President Obama started sounding all crotchety when he blamed "iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations" for the downfall of democracy. First of all, he knows how to use an iPod--he talked about it on the campaign trail. Second of all, it's sad when Venezuelan president and certified psycho Hugo Chavez is more technologically connected than Obama. (AP, Mashable)
