Solar company to locate North American headquarters in Georgia

Or, "Much-needed clean energy company picks home of annual Redneck Games for U.S. HQ." Regardless, good news for economic development and clean energy down in Laurens County.

From the office of Gov. Sonny Perdue:

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue announced today that MAGE SOLAR GMBH, a Ravensburg, Germany-based manufacturer of solar energy products, will locate its North American headquarters in Dublin in Laurens County. A division of parent company MAGE GROUP, the company markets high-grade photovoltaic modules, high-performance branded inverters, and mounting systems used in the solar energy industry.  This project represents a $30 million investment, and will create 350 jobs over five years.

The MAGE SOLAR Laurens County operation will also serve as a manufacturing facility for solar panels, making it the only manufacturer of its kind in Georgia. The facility will include a division for engineering and integration solutions for solar parks and building installations. In addition to the manufacturing facility and headquarters, the company also plans to build an academy for solar education.
