The Cheap Paper Collective made their debut in November of last year, transforming a huge loft space in the Old Fourth Ward for the one-night-only AXIOM: Baby Proof. With such a large and young group (Cheap Paper counts eleven members currently), it was unclear if and when they would collaborate again.

Now, almost exactly six months later, the Cheap Paper Collective is back and more interested in collaboration than ever. In an artist's statement on MINT Gallery's blog, Larissa Erin Greer writes, "The goal of our first exhibition was to show how the work of individual artists could coexist within a side-by-side grouping of multifunctional interdisciplinary works. Our upcoming show is focused on the idea that the same group of individuals can shift that energy to collaborate on a singular interdisciplinary installation."

After a long night working on that installation, Greer emailed CL in the wee hours of this morning to send along some photos of their process leading up  to this show.  She says the group has created over 500 pieces of work for this collaboration at MINT Gallery.

Interestingly, she adds, "Viewers are invited to "Make us an offer" on any of the pieces of paper in the space. We opened it up to see what kinds of monetary bids, barters and performative gestures people are willing to offer up for a piece of art." Greer says she doesn't know what to expect, but if you've ever wanted to trade a chicken for a drawing, this might be your chance.

Solid Gold, featuring work by Emma Adair, Katie Coleman, Patrick Davis, Jane Garver, Robin Gillis, Larissa Erin Greer, Joe Karg, Kelly McKernan, Meriam Salem, Geoffrey Smith, and Amy Yochum, opens at MINT Gallery on Sat., May 22 at 7 pm.
