2010-11 Fulton County Arts Council Grants announced

Posted By on Wed, Jun 23, 2010 at 3:17 PM

The Fulton County Arts Council will fork over $1.9 mil to support local arts programming during 2010-2011. That amount's down from what the council has provided over the past few years (approximately $2.4 million in 2009-10; $2.7 million in 2008-09; $2.3 million in 2007-08), not too surprising considering the economy's instability over the last few years. FCAC awards "contracts for services," basically grants for specific art and community-enriching projects. Organizations such as the Alliance Theatre, WonderRoot, Art Papers, Dad's Garage, the Plaza Theatre and Ballethnic will all receive FCAC funding over the next fiscal year.

With only $890,000 allotted for its 2011 budget, state agency the Georgia Council for the Arts has some catching up to do.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This post has been modified from its original version to reflect the correct amounts granted in previous years.
