Four decades after the Stonewall riots, Atlanta's gay community continues to celebrate the rise of the modern LGBTQ rights movement with this week's Stonewall Celebration. Tonight, public broadcasting's Story Corps puts on Out & OutLoud at Radial Cafe (1530 DeKalb Ave.), a live installment of the oral history project featuring members of the local LGBTQ community. WABE's John Lemley hosts the event, which takes place form 7-9 p.m.

Friday, Out on Film screens the new movie Stonewall Uprising, a documentary mash-up chronicling the birth of the gay rights movement, at Landmark Midtown, 7 p.m. ($10). HuffPo's got an interesting podcast with directors Kate Davis and David Heilbroner. The film will screen again Saturday at 7 p.m., and afterward OOF hosts some of those present at last year's Atlanta Eagle Raid to discuss their experiences and parallels between the two events.

A sign-making party for Saturday's “Be Visible, Make a Statement” Rally & Community Photo Shoot (2-3:30 p.m.) immediately follows Friday's screening upstairs at the Independent. Photos from Saturday's rally will also be the source of a community art project to be displayed during October's Pride Festival. More info about Pride and the Stonewall Celebration at its website.
