UGA alums: Defeating the French, one match at a time

Posted By on Thu, Jun 24, 2010 at 2:39 PM

After 11 grueling hours, John Isner made every Georgia Bulldog and freedom-fry hating American proud today by defeating Nicolas Mahut with a final tiebreaker 70-68 in the longest Grand Slam singles match ever played. Glory, glory to Mr. Isner!

Or should we say Superman? After the match, he claimed to only be “a little bit tired” and his opponent referred to him as a “champion.” We at CL attribute his superhuman-like qualities to a strict no-Gatorade diet. Zing!
