The transit agency's board of directors OK'ed several cost-cutting measures, including: Cutting the Braves shuttle, laying off more than 300 people, and eliminating bus routes.
From the AJC:
In budget cuts the agency’s board approved unanimously Monday, 40 bus routes are going away. Trains will add wait times up to five minutes more each. Bathrooms will close to the public at 29 stations across the system. This will be the last year for shuttles to Braves games and the Lakewood Amphitheatre. [...]On weekends, trains will start at 6 a.m., not at 4:45 a.m.
Ariel Hart has more here. Like previous budgets, the transit agency had to dip into reserves to balance what originally was a $120 million shortfall. Service cuts approved today take effect this fall.
