New weight loss pill potentially dangerous... but you'll be skinny!

Posted by Megan Thornton on Tue, Jul 13, 2010 at 3:39 PM

The first new prescription weight loss drug in over a decade may solve all your dieting woes, according to the New York Daily News.

That is, if you don't care about being depressed, having a short attention span, memory loss or increased heart rate. Also, it's probably dangerous if you're pregnant.

California-based Vivus Inc., the manufacturers of the bizarrely named Qnexa, say the drug helps people lose weight when coupled with diet and exercise.

They also plan on making BANK from it. Stock in the company has more than doubled over the last 12 months.

The new drug will be further reviewed by a Food and Drug Administration panel of experts on Thursday. However, the panel has until Oct. 28 to decide whether the pills will hit the market.

In the meantime, why don't we all just eat healthy and exercise? Rumor has it that might work.
