Crappy movie trailers, 1: Sharktopus
‘Sharktopus’ trailer kind of makes watching the actual movie unnecessary.
Building on my bad-movie discussion, “The Joy of Crap,” perhaps the two most reliable sources of self-consciously terrible, grade-Z films are The Asylum and the SyFy channel. The Asylum produces transparent knock-offs, nicknamed “mockbusters,” of Hollywood hits, like Transmorphers for Transformers. For years, SyFy has been concocting comparably ridiculous fare. I have a special fondness for monsters with compound names, like 2005’s Mansquito and the latest, Sharktopus (with Eric Roberts). The theme song is awesome!
