ESPN reveals the stomach-churning reality of stadium food safety practices

There are some things you just don’t need to know. The way they make your nachos and footlong dogs at the ballgame is one of them. Your primary concern, as it should be, is picking the line that will allow you to get your food as quickly as possible so you can hurry back to watch the game.

But next time, I highly suggest you shift your attention and instead watch what you’re eating - and proceed with caution.

ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” reviewed 2009 food service inspection reports for every major league stadium and found that, at 30 of the 107 venues (28 percent) inspected in North America, more than half of the concession stands or restaurants had been cited for at least one “critical” or “major” health violation.
