Bill Simon, a political blogger who's been a fierce critic of Karen Handel, alleges in an ethics complaint that the GOP gubernatorial candidate paid advisors with cash she raised for her secretary of state campaign.
Jim Galloway's got the background and emails between Simon and Handel's husband Steve. Yes, there are emoticons.
A Handel spokesman told the AJC columnist that the campaign hasn't been served with any notification by the State Ethics Commission and reserved comment.
He did point out, however, that Simon's campaign materials business had been paid to conduct work by some of the candidate's political opponents.
Handel faces Nathan Deal in an Aug. 10 runoff for the Republican nomination.
