That's the reaction from newest Atlanta Falcon Sean Weatherspoon when asked about his initial feelings after being drafted 19th overall by his new team back in April.
Needless to say, Weatherspoon was pretty excited about his job placement.
"Basically, it was the team that I wanted to go to," he said. "When they called me it was just like a dream come true because the whole time, throughout the [Draft] process, all my friends who had been through the process told me not to fall in love with any team, [but] they (Falcons) were definitely the team I fell in love with.
"I was just keeping my fingers crossed and it was just a blessing for me and my family to be a part of this."
Weatherspoon was born in Greenville, S.C., grew up in Jasper, Texas, and went to school at the University of Missouri, but he still knows a thing or two about his city.
"I know it's 'Hotlanta'," he chuckled. "[There's] a lot of stuff to get into downtown, a lot of stuff to do. You got Atlantic Station, you got the Buckhead area, got Lenox Mall so I get out there a little bit. It's a great city to be in."
A high-energy player (and personality), Weatherspoon is doing his best to fit in with his new teammates—even if it means changing up his hairstyle.
During his college days, Weatherspoon sported a classy, clean cut look, but as he's become more comfortable with his new surroundings, so too has his willingness to test out a retro 'box fade' hairdo.
"I just try to switch it up every now and then," Weatherspoon explained. "We're out here and we're going to work everyday, you gotta have something to make you smile...and I feel like my hair is a way of me expressing myself and my personality."
Thankfully for Weatherspoon, his locks were not assaulted in a rookie hazing stint—a la Tim Tebow—but that doesn't mean that his teammates don't let him have it when it comes to his choice of hairstyle.
"I don't really care what everybody else is really saying about my hair," 'Spoon said. "I'm out here having a good time, just having fun and I'll probably come up with something new pretty soon."
(Previous D.O.W. posts be damned! Sean Weatherspoon is a great kid and should be an outstanding player for a long, long time)
He didn't ask for any of this. She took it upon herself to start this…
Not a huge fan of the ankle cuff sneakers that Serena (and KD) are wearing…
Kind of strange that some random lady started a GoFundMe for that kid. I'm curious…
Can Tim Lee get any more pitiful?
Are my nards going to get irradiated?
