CoLab: 'adult dance hall' or artist collaborative?

Posted By on Tue, Aug 17, 2010 at 11:28 AM

The AJC reported yesterday that "police closed down an adult dance hall known as The Colaborator that allegedly was illegally operating in southwest Atlanta." In fact, the organization's name is the Colaboratory, and by other accounts, including its website, and its Facebook page, is a Burning Man-inspired artist collective that throws the occasional art party. Police arrested CoLab owner Troy Cobb to the frustration of friend Carolyn Kayne, who thinks the cops could be doing something more productive in the West End than hassling artists, she said in a voicemail left yesterday afternoon.

WSBTV visited the neighborhood where CoLab has its warehouse space (825 Warner St.) and interviewed a handful of neighbors who support the group's presence in the neighborhood. Click the picture to watch the video.
