Morning Newsdome: Iraq war over? Ann Coulter gay icon? Hell freezes over.

Posted by Bobby Feingold on Thu, Aug 19, 2010 at 10:58 AM

>> The last American combat troops have left Iraq as combat operations in the country are set to end August 31. About 50,000 troops will remain in Iraq, though, and will be called "trainers" to assist with policing the country. New name, same war. (CNN)

>> As the illegal immigrant debate rages on in the States, France is enforcing their own xenophobic policies. Seventy-nine Roma, often referred to as Gypsies, were flown out of the country as part of France's crackdown on illegal immigrants, and the government is offering 300 euros to every Roma adult who accepts the "voluntary return." At least they're paying them. (CNN)

>> Floods in Pakistan have left over 4 million people homeless, more than double the 2 million estimated. While the White House will announce more relief funds today, it's odd Pakistan hasn't received the same humanitarian outpouring that Haiti experienced. (CNN)

>> One in five Americans believes President Obama is a Muslim, with the percent of people correctly identifying him as a Christian down from nearly 50 percent when he took office to 34 percent. How is it possible that people forgot the president's religion? (the Washington Post)

>> And finally: Conservative psycho Ann Coulter will be the guest of honor at HomoCon, GOProud's inaugural party in September, where they call her "the right-wing Judy Garland." It's bad enough these gay republicans hate themselves, but supporting Ann Coulter is unforgivable. (CBS News)

Not odd at all that Pakistan is not receiving lots of humanatarian support when their Religious leaders of Islam say no we are good and threaten their people.

When Obama boycotts national days of prayer (the first time ever a president has done that) and then holds Ramadan Supper in the White House go figure - the American people are not as stupid as Obama wants them to be.

Ann has gahonnes!(sp) Anyone who can stand up in front of a student assembly and listen to a Muslim girl whine about being searched all the time before riding on a plane (I mean I get that too when I fly - we all do!) and tell her to "Take a Camel" has got a serious pair - like her or not you have to admit that was pretty awesome! Kind of like Chris Christie telling teacher unions or planned parenthood to get real about their plan and pay.

Here is some fresh Ann Coulter.

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=…

"Nativism in American politics has become so rampant that it is considered scandalous in Republican circles for a judge to acknowledge paying any attention to foreign courts and their legal rulings." -- New York Times editorial, Aug. 3, 2010

But when it comes to anchor babies, The New York Times and the entire Democratic establishment plug their ears and hum rather than consider foreign laws on citizenship.

Needless to say, America is the only developed nation that allows illegal aliens to gain full citizenship for their children merely by dropping them on U.S. soil.

No Pete only an asshole thinks it is awesome to make an offensive joke based upon a cultural stereotype in front of a large group of people in order to ridicule someone. I am pretty sure you have an extra chromosme. Was that awesome? How long have you been in AA? You reek of born again christian.

PistolPete--

Italians, Germans, French, etc. are nationalities connected with ethnicities which have been around for centuries. There is no ethnicity connected to being from the USA. Native Americans would be it, but we killed them all (almost). Therefore, when you refer to someone having Sicilan blood, for instance, you refer to their ethnicity. Their citizenship laws are loosely connected to whether or not ethnically they can be considered to have a certain 'blood line.' With the USA, as a relatively new country made up of a mix of european, african, asians, and some native-american mix, there is no way to connect nationality to ethnicity.

(Not to mention that it goes against the whole idea of the USA-- that non pure-blooded or blueblooded people, that werent accepted in much of europe could come to the USA and be accepted... now people like you want to have our own version of pure blood laws).

And I would guess, for the reason I mentioned above, most countries in America (the continent) have similar citizenship laws. Indeed, a quick check on the latin american countries-- Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Panama, Nicaragua, Mexico, etc.-- all have the principle of "if you are born in this country, you are a citizen."

PistolPeete--

And Canada also has citizenship upon birth within the country policy, which makes your "America is the only developed nation..." statement false (not that I expect most of the stuff you say to be researched and true anyways).

I like PP's comment about Ann C. I thought she was spot on. we pussy foot around too many people too much now a days just to be politicaly correct.
All of my grandparents were immigrants. They all had sponsors.
Gee, if we could all be as smart as you Kevin Bacon. Maybe if we all jumped off the bridge, you would too, Capable of an independant thught? Yes, PP was wrong in his statement. who gives a shit????

SCottr:Re your: jump off a bridge statement. PistolPeete is the one that suggested we should just do what europe does. Not me... I said we are different...

Also like your 'capable of an independent thought' after spewing the most cliche saying we have "if we all jumped off a bridge...."... you sir are clearly an independent thinker.

And congrats to your grandparents all having 'sponsors'.
You know before about 1950 you just had to show up (if you were a european) and they let you in and gave you papers. There was no such thing as 'sponsors...' But assuming it was after that and your grandparents really did have sponsors, congrats that your grandparents had another close family member that was a US citizen. Do you want a prize?

Gee, if we could all be as lucid and carefree as Scottr, and just not give a shit about facts or the real world.

We had amnesty in 1986 with the understanding that that was the end of it. No mas. Yet here we are again with at least 12 and maybe 20 million Undocumented Democrats who have got a taste of sweet Great Society benefits and they ain't goin' no stinking where, mane. Obama and Pelosi are drooling at the prospect of getting these people legal because that's their only chance to to maintain the regime.

KB - I know Democrats are in a little trouble here and need to buy as many votes as possible - they have all the unions nearly paid off and have succeded in pushing minority unemployment up to record levels all but ensuring they will be on Government handouts but pushing for what the Dems are wanting to do with Immigration reform - which is Circumventing Congress and We the People is a Travesty.

We need immigration Reform but is it ok to have at least bipartisan work done on this behind the scenes rather than Harry Reid drafting bills in secret and ramming them down our throats before we even know what is in the bill?

PistolPete- Sure, but dont act like republicans also didnt draft bills in secret and pass them without reading them (Patriot, Patriot II, etc). I thought Bush had some good ideas on immigration. Bipartinism would be nice--but I'm not convinced either the republicans or the democrats want anything 'bipartisan." Sad state of our government, so sharply polarized between parties...

PistolPete so what is your understanding of the practice of having "anchor babies"? I know you got that from somewhere else so I can't blame you, well I can blame you for repeating it, but this whole use of the term "anchor Baby" really is a great example of how people like Newt, Sarah and the rest will say anything even if it has no basis in fact or reality.

Fact is some time ago immigration laws were changed and children can not sponsor their parents (be an "anchor") until they turn 21. So the notion that people are coming in from Mexico, Honduras, Ecuador or wherever to "drop" a baby in order to stay in the U.S. (so the baby can sponsor them) doesn't make sense. Surely they aren't waiting for 21 years for the anchor to possibly work

Oh and they aren't coming here for the emergency room delivery of their baby. Coming in without papers is not easy, its expensive and its dangerous - many die trying. Delivering a baby generally is not rocket science. People do it all the time throughout the world.

What were you thinking the term Anchor Baby means?

oydave, seriously you should go out and meet some people who risked their lives to get here. Life sucks for them compared to us, they don't have access to benefits, they don't have rights and they have to live in fear of the police even though all they are doing is trying to survive and trying to help their loved ones and family survive. The vast majority are hardworking and honest people who make it a point not to cause problems because they hear the stories of their brothers being asked for a fishing license at lake lanier and then being pulled into jail for not having a license which then - in Gwinnett at least - leads to deportation. Great society benefits? - not for them....

Well, pp pete, you crossed the line into overt racism. A camel joke degrading an Arab school girl, and you think that takes balls. great. are you still huffing the paint markers in isle 4? Would it take "a pair" for me to go to home depot and tell em about the blow jobs you've been givin in the men's room? if I laughed like i was at a comedy club, would that make it okay?

Pete you didn't answer the question - And that article is wrong or misleading in saying as a practical matter they don't deport parents of U.S. children. They do it all the time.

Thus just what does Anchor Baby mean? Are people really trying to claim that they are planning for 21 years from now?

Ann Coulter and the rest of the extremists you like to get your knowledge base from have no problems with stating lies or half truths to whip up hate and fear, and perhaps more importantly shifting attention away from the issues at hand. Well ok they probably are just doing it to line their pockets by selling more books, articles and tickets to their speaking engagements.

Come on Pete you see in this entire debate they are using a term that is not accurate to mislead the masses. The baby is not anchoring anything! And that's not why babies are being born here. But what the F*ing heck, lets go ahead and get F with our constitution because a couple of extremists have misrepresented the situation and now have a fix that doesn't really fix anything.
