I've photographed the Dames Aflame during a few of their shows over the past year as part of a larger documentary project on burlesque. The beauty, grace and humor of the girls is always so enjoyable to experience and I feel honored to be involved in any small part with the burgeoning culture of burlesque. During their most recent performance with Kingsized at the Variety Playhouse, I snuck outside for a minute and just happened to capture this moment as I was headed back in. It feels to me like a scene that could have been from the Jazz Age and that is part of what's so mesmerizing about burlesque — its timelessness.
