It seems the Athens-Clarke County police take Princeton Review rankings very seriously. In the two weeks since the University of Georgia was named the No. 1 party school in the nation, the number of UGA students arrested on drug and alcohol charges has tripled compared to recent years.
The campus newspaper reported last Friday that there have been 43 drug- and alcohol-related arrests made in the last two weeks. A year ago, there were just 15 arrests during the same two-week period. In 2008, this number was 13.

UGA earned a top spot in another less controversial rankings list just released. The Associated Press and its college football poll voters selected the 12 best college mascots in the country. Georgia's English Bulldog Uga took second place just behind Ralphie the Buffalo from Colorado.
One panelist had an interesting take on Uga's celebrity: "Society still mistreats unattractive humans, so it's nice to see this ugly bulldog with the charming personality get showered with so much love between the hedges."

Are they also going to start arresting their rabid redneck fans that destroy their own campus during tailgating before games? What a classy bunch of fans - defecating on and trashing their own school. How very cosmopolitan, indeed. Bulldogs?! Try PIGS!
As a fan of a certain North Avenue school, I can proudly say we take pride in our campus and aren't a bunch of P-I-G, pigs.
Don't the police have anything better to do? You've got to let kids be kids. This is what happens when you go to school in a police state.
I think most of the UGA fans trashing the area during three day tailgating events didn't even graduate high school. They just love them dawgs.
