Morning Newsdome: I have a bad dream, involving Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin

Posted by Bobby Feingold on Mon, Aug 30, 2010 at 11:05 AM

>> BP's internal investigation determined that the Gulf of Mexico oil leak was the fault of the workers misreading pressure data, though the company would not comment on the report. Go to your room, BP, until you can accept responsibility for your actions! (USA Today)

>> With the U.S.'s pending withdrawal from Iraq, we will be leaving a "legacy of waste," said the head of the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction. While the $53-billion reconstruction effort had some successes, many projects, like the (taxpayer-funded) $40 million northern Baghdad prison, will be left completely abandoned. It may look like a failure, but I look at it as a success in molding Iraq in our image. (LA Times)

>> In today's Islamophobia report: Arsonist set fire to construction equipment at a new mosque in Murfreesboro, Tennessee Friday night. Thank goodness there aren't any cabs in Murfreesboro. (Tennessean)

>> On the 47th anniversary of MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech this Saturday, FOX News commentator Glenn Back lead his huge "Restoring Honor" rally in Washington DC, co-headlined with Sarah Palin, to "Reclaim the Dream." This is a nightmare. Make it end. (Politics Daily)

>> And finally: A Venezuelan politician running for the National Assembly is raffling off breast implants to raise funds for his campaign. I can't believe John Edwards didn't think of this sooner. (Reuters)

It is a good thing that Jews, lesbians, gay men and Caucasians, among others, are all more frequently the target of hate crimes, FBI records show. Hate crimes against Muslims remain rare but the liberal Media would have you beleive otherwise.

How about the Italian Government not recognizing Islam as a Religion due to radical Imam's and lack of sexual equality?

Boy the racism at the Restoring Honor rally was so overwhelming. C.L Jackson, Alveeda King, Albert Puhols, along with many other minority speakers and thousands of minorities in the crowd barely escaped with their lives!

Here is a nightmare - I mean a left leaning if you don't agree with what I say I will call you racist liberal looking to smear someone - Beau Friedlander offers $100k for Beck sex tape or any taped conversation.

Way to keep it assy!

How did all those folks debase themselves so thoroughly that they needed a collective honor restoration?

Isn't it a good thing the "Restoring Honor" rally was designed to strengthen the role of God and religion in America? Doesn't it mean that Glenn and Sarah will support the mosque in Manhattan so that all of God's religions have a voice?

Glen Beck supports the building of the Mosque and questions along with Obama on the wisdom of it. I think Sarah feels the same way but I am not sure. All of America supports religious freedom and will allow the Mosque to be built. America wants the funding vetted for the Mosque and has some lingering Questions for Imam Rauf. Manhattan already has about 11 Mosques. America could have cared less about them - this Mosques location is in bit more sensitive area with lingering questionable motives for Imam Rauf and the Real Estate person behind it.

Pete,

Much of Rauf's funding comes from Al-Waleed bin Talal, who owns a 7% stake in NewsCorp, aka Glenn Beck's employer. This is doubly ridiculous because although Fox never called bin Talal by name, they have implied numerous times that this person has "questionable" motives and is not to be trusted. Yes, the same guy who owns 7% of Fox News itself.

Also, Rauf's book, "What’s Right with Islam", was published by HarperSanFrancisco, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch.

How's that for "vetting"?

Not good enough for me yet but I am sure with some digging by any reporting source this will all work out. I wish we could just let the Mosque be built right on top of where the WTC used to be. That would appease our Moderate Islam friends even more.

Yeah, okay. Never mind that the building has been Muslim-owned for years and that they've also been holding prayer services in the building for years. They're just rubbing our faces in it by building a food court and a gym, too.

If not two blocks, how far away is acceptable? What distance would you deem an acceptable place for the blacks to live, er...I mean...the Muslims to renovate their prayer space?

Fox can't control who buys their stock. Owning a bunch of it doesn't make you a business partner. Still, they should name the guy instead of referring to him obscurely.

So you're giving Murdoch props for non-partisanship in his publishing? Realistically he knew both these things after the fact.

The title of the overseas edition of the book is "A Call For Da'wa From The Rubble Of The World Trade Towers" or something like that. Da'wa can mean inviting non-believers to join Islam but to the Islamic Supremacists it also means what happened two blocks away. Now the guy is a Sufi so that's a couple of points in my book. But Saddam was a Sufi and Nixon was a Quaker so WTF do you do?

I liked the origional intent of the building - a multicultural, multi-religious use building where all are welcomed. Where men, women, children, gays, transgendered etc...can swim laps for exercise in the gym's pool with Moderate Muslims and where Jews and Muslims can mingle and find common ground, where everyone is invited including Christians to worship. There are Mosques all over Manhattan and this building has been used by Muslims.

I support the Mosque there.

I just question the motives. I don't want America to end up like parts of Europe where their tolerance of Islam has created some social issues.

Nad - would you not admit that Islam has some questionable practices that are currently going on and perhaps America's Freedom of Religion might be used against us?

Better to question sooner than later right? It's just a few questions or clarifications regarding Islams philosophy and Mosque funding.

Do you know that the Italian Government has deemd Islam not a true religion because of radicalness towards nonbelievers and inequality towards women?

Nad - I know you hate my links but this is a good one.

I have tried to appease you of late regarding my links and my poor habit of copy paste.

Here's a good one about the roots of the Tea Party, Fox News, and Palin/Beck.

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/29/opinion/29rich.html?src=me&ref=general

oydave, are you so naive to believe that bin Talal is just the largest shareholder and Murdock doesn't invest in him? Believe he does, he flows money back to bin Talal and invests heavily in Saudi Arabia.

Give the NYT article a read if you can read that many words in one sitting. PPete, you stick your fingers in your ears and go la-la-la-la-la all you want, but it doesn't change the facts.

Whatever Duder - I find it astonishing that the left wing and Liberal media have no problem demonizing an entire tea party movement that connects with a large portion of Americans with no facts to back up their claims of racism and bigotry - yet we have documented and proven 1,000's of extremist Muslim antics all over the world including America but the Left Wing and Liberal Media gives them a free pass despite massive proof that Islam is far from a religion of peace. Why don't you go after something that is actually killing people?

The tea party is not like the SEIU or other unions Duder.
