Strutting for a good cause

Ladies will talk. Taking photos at the annual Jeffrey Fashion Cares event is a challenge because the dressed-to-the-nines crowd is every bit as interesting as what’s going on on the runway. In between shooting the models showcasing presumably prohibitively expensive outfits, I was drawn to a gaggle of onlookers who were especially expressive in their reactions. At the end of the show, celebrated retailer Jeffrey Kalinsky joined his models on the runway for a final bow. For the record, the high-fashion evening is all for a good cause, benefiting AIDS awareness and the Susan G. Komen breast cancer foundation. Monday’s event was attended by Spanx creator Sara Blakely and former Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor, whose wife, Sasha, is a major Fashion Cares supporter. An after-party at Opera featured Fred Schneider of the B-52s in the DJ booth.
