Mayor spends day looking at, picking up hideous mess Atlantans make

Posted by Thomas Wheatley on Fri, Sep 3, 2010 at 1:20 PM

Mayor Kasim Reed spent yesterday doing what I considered, until I turned four years old, to be the coolest possible job known to man: To ride on the back of a large garbage truck while it was in motion.

What about an old photo of Bill Campbell on the side of a highway with a bus nearby?

This is great. Anything a mayor can do to experience how the city works (and doesn't) is a good thing. Suggested next stops: the 911 call center; PARKAtlanta ticketing; water bill customer service center (with or without the cash bribes); and, especially, a morning with the city's most dysfunctional department: code enforcement.
