The newly minted Cornbred Gallery sits in the back room of Homegrown restaurant, the breakfast and lunch joint on Memorial. Tonight is the opening of their first solo show, Dirty Sunshine, featuring mixed media works by Johnny Waggener. The restaurant will also be serving a dinner of smoked ribs or vegan sloppy joes to celebrate, though you'll need to call (404) 222-0455 to make reservations if you'd like to eat. The Decatur Book Festival gets in full swing Saturday morning, with readings from John Brandon, Preston Allen, Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche, and too many others to list. You can take a look at the schedule, but don't forget about the Experimental Writers Asylum, organized by Eyedrum and hosted at Seen Gallery throughout the weekend. Blake Butler, currently on CL's "8 Artists to Watch" cover, is among those scheduled to read at the Gallery.
