The inaugural year of the Experimental Writers Annex at the Decatur Book Festival went down at Seen Gallery this weekend, including a publication party for the second volume of the Open Face Sandwich, an erotic reading from Jessica Blinkhorn, and some words from CL cover star Blake Butler this afternoon.
For those who caught the early afternoon reading today, Heather Christle and Christopher Deweese opened things up with poems that manipulated talk radio and radio rock, respectively.
Blake Butler followed them up with few pieces of prose, including this dizzying excerpt from his upcoming novel, There Is No Year. Creative Loafing was so overwhelmed we could barely hold the camera steady.

Next year we will do something about the extraneous noise.. We were honored to host the event and thank Eyedrum for choosing us for its venue.

Yeah at 2:16 I get a pig! Yeah no fault of the gallery for background noise. I'll bring a lavalier for Wyatt next time. Good reading, all three. Chris I'd never heard read before and am excited to learn all the books he has coming forth. And Heather too I think was the first time. Funny stuff they both did in reinterpreting other media. Gooood stuff.
