It will have been exactly a year and ten days since the Atlanta Police Department's now-infamous raid of the Atlanta Eagle, when on Monday the APD's new GLBT Advisory Board convenes for the first time.

According to GLBT Liaison Officer Patricia Powell, the board — which is composed of nine prominent individuals within the LGBT community — will act as her "eyes and ears" out in the community. Besides being a conduit of information, the hope also seems to be that the board will help improve the relationship between the police and the gay community in the aftermath of the Eagle Raid.

No word on what the agenda items will be, but for those curious enough to find out, the meeting is open to the public. When: Monday, Sept. 20 at 10 a.m.; Where: Saint Mark United Methodist Church, 781 Peachtree St., NE.
