Ladies, are you ready for some football?
The Atlanta Xplosion are holding open tryouts for women looking to play some football.
The Atlanta Xplosion, the city’s women’s professional football team, is holding open tryouts on Saturday, October 2 from 8 a.m. to noon at the GTA Sportsplex in Lawrenceville.
A member of the Independent Women’s Football League (IWFL), the Xplosion have been in existence since 2003 and are looking for some new faces to join the team for the 2011 season.

Any athletic women 18 years of age or older are invited to participate in the tryouts, which will include an injury evaluation and testing in the 40-yard dash, vertical leap, 20-yard shuttle, 3 cone drill and bench press. Experience is preferred but not required.
Tryouts will be held once again at GTA Sportsplex (2160 Breckinridge Blvd., Suite 160, Lawrenceville, GA 30043), located 30 minutes north of the Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson airport located off of Interstate 85. Another run of tryouts will be held on November 20 before the start of the 2011 regular season in April.
The Xplosion plays its home games at Centennial High School in Roswell, Ga., and will play an eight game regular season.
