For a city designed for the automobile, it was a surreal — and much-needed — event. (For a look at last year's ASA, check out these fine folks' photo galleries. Really.
On Sunday, residents and visitors will get to enjoy the experience once again. From the event's website:
Building on the success of the May event, the next Atlanta Streets Alive is happening in downtown Atlanta on Sunday, October 17 from 1-6PM on Edgewood Avenue and throughout Woodruff and Hurt Parks. The fall event features an extended Edgewood route from Peachtree to Randolph Street and an AMAZING offering of free activities from over 45 local organizations — everything from bike rodeos & mountain bike trails, hula hooping, double-dutch, frisbee, relay races, Zumba, capoeria, cheerleading, boot camp, kickboxing, yoga, Pilates, Nia, salsa, flamenco, Persian dance & poetry, free style poling, poi, and circus performers, to storytelling, bubble making, scavenger hunts, camping challenges, street stenciling, art installations, live music (jazz, steam punk, classical, djembes), health living education, and food & drink from the area’s best restaurants.
To top things off, there's a new and improved interactive map that shows where all the events are located (see above). Be sure to check it out — and please, take MARTA.
UPDATE: An earlier post said more than 1,000 people attended May's event. Turns out my estimation skills are lacking. According to officials, more than 5,700 people participated in May's ASA.

Good to see CL promoting Streets Alive! It needs the publicity -- for some reason, it's kinda under the radar with local media.
It didn't make it into either the the AJC's 'Weekend best bets' report or their weekly 'look at all the events that are going to slow down traffic on the highways' report.
It also didn't get a mention in the Atlanta Intown Weekend High Five events list.
Maybe if Atlanta really mobs this event it'll get some more reportage action in the future.
