Actress/producer Lisa Blount has been found dead at her home near Little Rock, Ark. According to the PopMatters web site:

The Pulaski County Coroner's office told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that Blount likely died on Monday and that currently there are no signs of foul play. She was found by her mother. Blount's husband, actor-director Ray McKinnon, was out of town.

Audiences probably best remember actress/producer Lisa Blount from her scene-stealing turn as Debra Winger's mercenary friend in An Officer and a Gentleman. The Arkansas native's contributions to Southern film in collaboration with her husband, actor/director Ray McKinnon, probably aren't as well known, but with the feature films Chrystal and Randy and the Mob (in which she starred) and especially the short film "The Accountant," Blount and McKinnon explode cornpone stereotypes while exploring the nature of the New South. In 2000. Blount, McKinnon and their frequent collaborator Walton Goggins won Oscars for "The Accountant," which, like Randy and the Mob, was filmed in Georgia. Given the many productive years she had ahead of her, Blount will be missed.
