'Walking Dead' gives writers the axe – all of 'em!

The horror of the the unemployment line

As the end of the year approaches, all of us good, hardworking folks cross our fingers and hope for a little end of the year boost in recognition of our good, hard work. If you were employed as a writer for "The Walking Dead" oooh-daddy! did you think you were getting a big reward this year. After all, only five episodes in, and it's become AMC’s most-watched original series with more than 5 million total viewers, according to Media Week. How to reward all of this success? Why, a mass firing! Deadline reports that last night series producer/director Frank Darabont canned the entire writing staff. It's rumored that season 2 will exclusively employ freelance writers.

I suggest Darlton.
