UPDATE — Council approves $1.025 million settlement in Eagle Raid case

Posted By on Mon, Dec 6, 2010 at 3:22 PM

Just minutes ago, the GA Voice (@theGAVoice) Tweeted a photo of the resolution — which went before Atlanta's City Council today — that would settle all claims against the City of Atlanta in the lawsuit filed by victims of the Sept. 2009 raid of the Atlanta Eagle.

As we reported late last week, the settlement was said to include both monetary compensation and would mandate that certain reforms be made to the Atlanta Police Department. If the resolution is approved by council, the plaintiffs will receive $1,025,000 and "certain actions" would be taken by the APD (no specifics there).

A subsequent GA Voice Tweet says the money will go into a Lambda Legal escrow account.

UPDATE: Council voted unanimously to approve the settlement. The settlement has to go back before a Federal judge before it's official.
